TTB- BER and Issue.

BER AND ISSUE OF TTB ITEMS

It is noticed that the entries made in log book for BER and issue of TTB items has been seems in different ways. The BER & issue of TTB are in two parts and they are as under:-

Sentencing BER (Beyond Economical Repair) is to be carried out by R&I/ E-4 Section of work shop as under:-

1.        Study the work order produced by user unit, and check correctness of TTB life from log book and tally with the life required for BER. If life not covered as per the life norms of TTB and the TTB is not in a condition to safe use, then the user unit should be produce a certificate in this regard as “Low mileage certificate”.

2.      Check availability of same size TTB from E3 section/TSS/ expendable store.  (Never sentence any TTB items to BER if suitable TTB are not available in store for issue. In other hand, if there is a remark in the work order as “replacement not required” then only sentence the TTB item as BER.  In such cases replacement serviceable TTB should be issued from user unit from their PWS/ Retrieval stock against BER certificate issued from Work Shop.)

3.         After physical inspection of the TTB items, desire how much can be sentence to BER as per physical condition. (Never sentence any TTB to BER if its physical condition is so good, even if its life is completed as per the norms). Then endorse remarks on work order accordingly as 90/ 95 % threads worn out/ perished/ internally short circuited etc. as per the physical condition and accept the work order. Get counter signature from work shop officer on work order.

4.        Prepare BER certificate in  quadruplicate (distribution:- Original & quadruplicate user unit, duplicate for R&I/ E4 sec and triplicate for E3/TSS.) and control it through BER Control register. Make related BER entry in log book by red ink. Date and Kms/ Hrs run as per work order should be entered on the top of the page.

5.        Round up the existing TTB number/issue details in log book as per work order or as per the physical condition, then mark ’’BER’’ and enter the page No: where the BER entry made. (For future reference).

6.       Get counter Signature from Work Shop Officer on BER certificate, BER Control register and as well as on log book.

7.       Hand over the BER certificate (except duplicate copy) and log book to E3 section/ TSS/ expendable store for their further issue of new TTB against BER certificate.

Issue of New TTB against BER is to be carried out by E3 Sec/TSS/ Expendable Store as under:-

          1.            Receipt BER certificate and log book from R&I /E4 Section.

2.        Remove required quantity of new TTB in same size as per BER, (if available or check possibility of other size) from stock and note down the serial number, make and size/ AH capacity etc.

3.        Prepare exchange issue voucher on beneath of BER certificate and hand over new TTB items to driver/ Operator concerned then obtain signature. Then it should be charged off from TTB ledger against EIV. (Remember the date of exchange issue voucher should be same as the BER certificate or on the next date. Otherwise there will be audit observation with user unit in future.)

4.        Make entry regarding issue of new TTB in log book by red ink on next page of BER. (if possible) Date and Kms/ Hrs run as per work order should be marked on the top of the page without fail.

         5.         Get Counter Signature from store Officer on EIV, TTB ledger as well as on log book.

6.        Now, take salvage TTB, on Salvage/ BER TTB ledger charge against BER as replacement of new issue.
